In September 2015, DeeDee Torres joined the Coastal Compass team, and she has been making an impact as the Career Pathway Specialist. DeeDee has a passion for working with students, and aims to make a difference for the organization and the community.
“I want to be able to provide students with the information they need, and if I don’t have the answers I’ll find them,” says Torres about her new position.
Torres was born in Dallas, and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. She attended the University of Texas-Pan American, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitative Service. Torres was accepted to Texas A&M Corpus Christi, where she will be pursuing her master’s degree in Counseling, while continuing her work with Coastal Compass.
Torres is involved in all aspects of the center’s work, from marketing and event planning to counseling. Since joining the team, Torres assisted in the planning of a successful R4C2 Conference, and is planning several upcoming events for students in the community.
It’s important for Coastal Compass’ messages to reach the public, and Torres has taken it upon herself to make sure their communication is successful. She has grown the Coastal Compass social media following on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
