Coastal Compass hosted College Application Week Nov. 17-21, at their location in La Palmera Mall. The event was a part of the larger National College Application Month. During the month of November, communities across the country are encouraged to provide the public with the resources and information needed to make informed decisions about post-secondary education. Coastal Compass is bringing this mission to life in Corpus Christi, by helping make college possible for students from all backgrounds.
“Our Nation was built on the idea that no matter where you come from or what you look like, you can make it if you try.“ President Obama said in his statement addressing the purpose of National College Application Month.
During Coastal Compass’ College Application Week, students were encouraged to visit the center to receive assistance with college applications, application essays, and financial aid. Because of the partnerships Coastal Compass has with area colleges and universities, the team has valuable insights on the college application process.
Over 30 local students visited Coastal Compass during College Application week and received assistance with their applications. Students who attended the event were entered for prize drawings and a chance to win a tablet. The winner of the tablet will be announced on Dec. 9.
